Is Apple Cider Vinegar Good For Eyelashes? Important Facts

Apple cider vinegar is credited with a wide range of health benefits but is apple cider vinegar good for eyelashes? Find out here!

Is Apple Cider Vinegar Good For Eyelashes

Apple cider vinegar is good for eyelashes. When used externally, apple cider vinegar can help your eyelash hair to regain its natural balance. It can also cleanse your eyelash hair. When used internally, apple cider vinegar has general health benefits. These can help your body to grow strong, healthy hair.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting fresh apple juice.

This turns its natural fruit sugars into alcohol. Bacteria and yeast then convert this alcohol into vinegar.

This process gives apple cider vinegar many health benefits such as:

  • May help to rebalance hair and skin
  • Antibacterial
  • Helps to manage blood sugar levels
  • May help with weight control
  • May help with heart health

3 Reasons Apple Cider Vinegar Is Good For Eyelashes

3 Reasons Apple Cider Vinegar Is Good For Eyelashes

Here are the three main reasons apple cider vinegar is good for eyelashes:

1. Restores The Hair’s Natural Balance

Many personal-hygiene products disrupt the hair’s natural pH level

When this happens, your hair can lose its condition. It can even become frizzy and/or dry and delicate.

Rinsing your eyelashes with apple cider vinegar can help to counterbalance this.

2. Cleans the Hair

Apple cider vinegar is known for its cleansing properties.

This applies on the outside of the body as well as on the inside. For example, you could use an apple cider vinegar rinse to clean your eyelashes before curling them.

3. Can Improve General Health

You really are what you eat and so is your hair. Anything that improves your general health is likely to improve the condition of your hair, including your eyelashes.

Can Apple Cider Vinegar Help Grow Eyelashes?

No apple cider vinegar cannot help to grow eyelashes. It may, however, be able to help your eyelashes remain healthy and strong for longer. The acidity in apple cider vinegar can help to counteract the alkalinity of many personal-care products. This can restore your eyelash hair’s natural balance.

Some of the common problems with eyelashes (and hair in general) are caused by hair becoming too alkaline.

This can be as a result of using personal care products such as shampoos and soaps.

The acidity of apple cider vinegar can counterbalance this and bring your hair back to its correct pH.

When your hair is restored to the correct pH level, the cuticles will close. This has the effect of making your hair smoother, glossier, and easier to manage.

For example, it will be less prone to tangling or being dragged by a brush or eyebrow curler.

Also, when hair lies flat, it’s less exposed to moisture loss.

How To Use Apple Cider Vinegar For Eyelashes

Apple cider vinegar is a low allergy risk but it’s still highly advisable to do a patch test before using it for the first time. If you plan to use apple cider vinegar internally, start with a small amount.

If you have dry hair, reduce the amount of apple cider vinegar. If you have oily hair and/or want maximum gloss, increase it.

  1. If your eyebrows are dry, wet them. You can do this by wetting a spoolie and running it across your eyelashes as though you were applying mascara.
  2. Then apply the rinse to your eyelashes in the same way.
  3. Leave for 1-2 minutes
  4. Rinse off with clean water.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar Eyelash Mask

Mask for dry/damaged eyelashes

  1. ½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Leave for about 30 minutes.

Cleanse off with regular water or micellar water.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar As A Drink Or Food

It is generally considered safe to have up to 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar a day.

You can add it to water or tea to dilute the flavor. You can also buy apple cider vinegar in other forms such as gummies.

These can be a useful way of consuming apple cider vinegar if you really don’t like the taste.
